Tips for successful growing of your
VENUS FLY TRAP (Dionaea Muscipula)
70mm Pot.
Venus Fly Traps are best grown outside receiving at least 5 hours of direct sun. The traps will grow small if the plant does not receive enough light.
Venus Fly Traps need to be kept moist at all times so they should be kept in a tray of water with the water level covering about 1/5 of the pot height, and avoid watering the top of the plant or pot.
Water the plant with rain water - tap water is acceptable though rain water is preferred.
Avoid closing the traps with your fingers. Continuously closing the traps will cause the plant to use excess energy. You can feed your plant once a month with a live fly or insect.
Pinch off any flowers with your fingers as the flowers take a lot of energy out of the plant.
Remove the dead leaves as required.
Use 5 parts peat moss and 1 part coarse washed river sand when repotting or use straight sphagnum moss. Repotting should be done in Spring or Summer.
Venus Fly Traps become dormant in Winter, so do not throw then away. Continue to water them as usual and it will grow new leaves in Spring.
